President Cup Final Persebaya vs Arema; 3,500 Police Deployed

TEMPO.CO, JakartaA total of 3,500 personnel will be deployed to secure the final match of 2019 President Cup that is slated to take place in Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, Surabaya, East Java, this afternoon, April 9. The match will see Surabaya football club, Persebaya, and Malang football club, Arema FC.

The number of personnel is higher than that of previous games, East Java Police Chief Insp. Gen. Luki Hermawan confirmed.

“We will assign 3,500 personnel from usually 2,200,” said Luki accompanied by Surabaya Resort Police Chief Sr. Comr. Rudi Setiawan.

According to him. a high-security measure is necessary for the grand event. “This match gains high interests from supporters so we need more personnel and that a two-fold hike,” he added.

East Java Police asserts that the institution will put maximum effort into succeeding the match and ensuring it runs smoothly. “We have prepared the security as usual.”

In addition to securing the stadium, the police personnel will guard conflict-prone areas where clashes between supporters commonly occur during the final match of 2019 President Cup.
